Hair Today. Gone Tomorrow.

I don't think I have really cut my hair since Allie was born. I have had it trimmed several times since then but never really taken any length off of it. Needless to say it was getting pretty long.

Well I decided it was time to chop it off. The fact that I just had a baby and my hair all falls out anyway helped make the decision a little easier. It isn't my mom's favorite thing when I chop my hair all off, which got me thinking a little. This time I figured I would do something that would benefit others. So I donated my hair to Locks of Love. 12 inches of hair. My sister-in-law, Ashlee, cut it for me.Before (Josh's blessing day)After
We ended up cutting about 13-14 inches off in the end. I think this is the shortest my hair has ever been, but hey it was for a good cause.

Stacy and Matt Get Hitched

Last Thursday Stacy and Matt got married. Wahoo! We are excited for the two of them and their little family. The fact that they owe Tyler and I a lifetime of brownies for setting them up doesn't hurt the excitement factor either.

I snapped a few quick pictures of my kiddos after the wedding.
Emily Allie is always cheesin' it up.Joshua was not the biggest fan of laying on the grass.

Josh is now 7 weeks old. He is starting to smile more. Unfortunately, he stops smiling as soon as I grab the camera.
This half smirk is the most he will do for the camera.
Emily and Allie love to lay on the floor with Josh and everytime they do they want me to take a picture of the 3 of them. They love him so much.
Emily loves to hold him and is such a big helper.

1 Fish, 2 Fish, We Caught a Catfish

Emily and Allie have loved going fishing this summer. We have enjoyed many afternoons together as a family sitting around the city pond seeing what we could catch. The last 2 times we have gone we have tried our hand at catching catfish. Our bait of choice: Hot dogs. I think catfish will eat just about anything but the hot dogs seem to do the trick.

It was quite chilly the first time we went but that didn't stop us. The girls are enjoying their lunch as we wait for the fish to bite. Josh is enjoying his nap.

We had our fishing poles propped up on Y shaped sticks so we didn't have to hold them the whole time. We placed bobbers on our lines so we knew when we had a bite. Tyler and I had our poles both propped up on the same stick. Tyler's line tightened and his bobber went up, he had a bite! Then all of a sudden the stick fell over and both our poles took off straight into the pond. Tyler went in after them about 10 feet then he realized he had his phone in his pants pocket and stopped. Somehow I managed to grab my pole. Somehow Tyler's pole got caught in my line and we were able to get his pole back to shore with my pole and then we managed to bring the fish in.
Emily was the one to reeled the fish in. He was quite the fighter.
Josh wanted to get in on the action too. He helped me hold the pole as Tyler got the fish off the line. Emily took this picture.
Apparently, this fish has given a couple other people quite a fight too. He had 2 other hooks in him besides ours. Some other kids around the pond came to watch as Tyler tried to get the hook out. They weren't the biggest fans.

We went out again yesterday and Emily caught a catfish on her little pole that Grandpa and Grandma Conlin gave her. She was so excited. She then proceeded to tell Tyler that she was a better fisher than he was.

Joshua is 5 weeks old

Josh is 5 weeks old this week. He has changed so much in the last couple of weeks and isn't a tiny little thing any more. He is so content and rarely cries. He even sleeps most of the night, usually only waking up once.I love those giant brown eyes of his!

Emily and Allie are such good helpers and they love him so much. They both love to hold him and sing "Rock a Bye Baby" to him. Oh love these 3 little kiddos so much. What a blessing and joy they are in our lives.

Birthday and Joshua's Blessing

Today was a special day. First, it was my birthday, which in and of itself isn't that special. But, today was also the day that we blessed Joshua. Tyler gave him a beautiful blessing (I think just about everyone in the congregation shed a tear or two).
All ready for his big day.
I think Josh needed to gain another 10 pounds before he fit into his outfit. 2XS just wasn't small enough. Either way he looked mighty handsome.

Allie and Joshua.
After the blessing at church we spent the day at home with family. We grilled up some hamburgers and played some games. Then we enjoyed some birthday brownies that Tyler made for me.
It was a beautiful day and I'm glad that I could share that special day with Josh. I am so glad that he is a part of our family.
