Bandanna + Lace= New Skirt

Let me just start by saying that I am no Martha Stewart. I do pretty well when it comes to cooking and baking but when it comes to crafty stuff and sewing I'm not too talented. Everything I know about sewing I learned in 8th grade Home-Ec. I can't even sew in a straight line. That being said, I saw this cute bandanna skirt idea for my girls here. It looked simple enough so I thought I would give it a try.
Here's how they turned out.

Emily and Allie dancing a jig.

I have to say it was super easy to make these and they only cost about $3 each. I used some lace on the bottom instead of material. It took me about an hour to make both of them. I'm sure
if you are an expert seamstress it wouldn't even take that long.
I still was unable to sew in a straight line but my girls love the skirts anyway. That is the only thing that matters to me.

ICE SKATING

We took the girls ice skating at the Ice Sheet today. Emily had a blast! Allie wasn't too fond of it for the first 20 minutes or so but she soon warmed up too it. She was so sad when it was time to go home.
This picture isn't the greatest (too much back light) but it was the only one I got of Emily and Tyler. Emily was just getting the hang of the ice.
Emily loved going fast!
Allie didn't like all the other people around, but as soon as most of them left she was impossible to get off the ice.

Still not quite to sure about it all.

Emily was soon skating on her own. She held on to the wall for a little while and soon ventured off on her own.Allie wasn't too steady on her own but she did great if someone just held on to her a little and gave her a little support. She tried so hard! The girls spinning around and enjoying their day on the ice.

Emily and Allie both did so well. I am glad that they enjoyed it. We had a great day together as a family.

Funnies

Okay, I have finally done what I have been telling myself I was going to do for a long time. On my side bar I have added a place where I can type in the funny things that my kiddos say. Mostly I did this for myself so I can remember the funny things my kids say but they are there for your enjoyment as well. You have to scroll down a little bit to see them.

The Last Trade Show Til August

Tyler had 3 straight weeks of trade shows the last month. This last one was in Vegas. I decided to go with him and we left the girls at my parents house for the week. They had a blast playing with their cousin, Mylee all week.

Trade shows aren't all that exciting. It is cool to see all the gear for the upcoming year but the days are so long and your feet hurt so bad from walking around and by the end of the day you are to worn out to do anything else.

Apparently we were really excited to go to this last trade show, though, because this was the way our speedometer looked on the way down.

Pretty impressive for a huge Suburban, eh? Okay, maybe our speedometer decided to wig out on us. Clearly if you looked at the RPMs we were pulling you could have figured that out on your own.

Can you spot the star in the crowd? I'm the one taking the picture so it isn't me. Yes, that not so handsome guy in the picture is Gene Simmons from KISS.

All I really want to say is WAHOO. Trade shows and ski swaps are over until August!!!! For the most part, Tyler will be home at night and on the weekends until August. It has been a long 5-6 months since we have had that luxury. We are glad that he is such a hard worker but glad that he can work closer to home for the next couple of months. :)
