Happy Birthday Emily!

My little girl turned 4 today. I can't believe how fast time goes by. We had a great day with family.

I thought I would let Emily decide what her cake should look like. We were looking for cake ideas online, we were looking on parenting.com and she found what she wanted. She wanted her cake to look like a purse. I'm not a professional baker and was a bit nervous about this but it turned out all right. Emily was in heaven and absolutely loved it. Here is how it turned out.

Emily wanted to dig in before the party started.

Emily got lots of fun things from her grandmas and grandpas and other family.

This 4 year old is in heaven. She got spoiled!

Blowing out the candles. And no the is not my pregnant belly in the background. That is Tyler thinking he is funny and is sticking his belly out as far as he possibly could.

It's hard to believe that just 4 years ago she was this little. She is growing up so fast. You are a very smart and funny girl. You keep us on our toes. You are such a joy in our lives. Happy Birthday Emily!

When we kicked out the renters from OUR Clinton home, we were ALSO faced with a rotten mess. I swear, they did NOT clean that bathroom at all. The tub was black with grime and the bathroom mirror was thick with white gunk and the sink was crusted over with tons of hardened gunk and toothpaste. Ugh! Ew! Wrong! Vulgarity! I had no idea you guys were all ready back in your old house! That is pretty exciting. I totally feel ya with the pregnancy moving fiasco. Both of my pregnancy we moved during. I was 37 weeks with Kai and 30 weeks with Jude when we moved. And you're right, the prego card doesn't get you out of much. Sorry you had such a mess to clean up. that sounds pretty disgusting. WHEN SKUNKS DIE by Allie (7-31-10)
We were getting off the free way and were graced with the aromatic smell of skunk. Emily said "I wonder where the skunk is?" I told her that sometimes skunks get hit by cars and die and that is why we smell them. Then Allie pipes up and says "Yeah, when skunks die they fart and that is why it stinks!"

I AM A CHILD OF GOD by Allie (11-9-09)
As we were having FHE tonight Allie started singing "I am a Child of God". I love to hear the girls sing their primary songs but apparently Allie thought the words of this song needed to be changed. Here's how her version goes.

I am a Child of God
And He has sent me here.
Has given me an earthly home,
with parents KIND OF SCARED!

Tyler and I were laughing so hard.

A DAY OF REST (6-5-09)
Me: After lunch we are going to take a nap.
Emily: No, Mom, we can't
Me: Yes, you can. And we are going to because you guys are grumpy.
Emily: We only take naps on the 7th day. That is what I learned in primary. So we can't take one today.

Apparently a "day of rest" means the only day you can take a nap. Who knew??

IF YOU CAN'T SAY SOMETHING NICE
Allie had just dumped a whole shaker full of pepper all over the counter and stove.
Me: Allie you little fart. Don't dump that out.
Emily: You little fart. You little fart (repeated about 10 times)
Me: Emily, please stop saying that it's not very nice.
Emily: Well, Mom, you said it and if you don't want me to say it you better watch what you say. I learn a lot from what you say.

YOU EAT WHAT?
Tyler: I eat like garbage when I'm at work.
Emily: You eat garbage??
Tyler: No, I just don't eat very good food when I am at work.
(A couple weeks later we went to visit Tyler at work)
Emily: Dad, what's all this stuff on your desk.
Tyler: Oh, it's just a bunch of garbage.
Emily: That's your lunch?

WANT SOME?
Allie has been on this kick about sticking her hand in her pocket and pretending to pull out some chocolate and then asking if you want some chocolate. Well, the other day Allie had pants on that didn't have pockets, so she stuck her hands down the back of her pants, pulled her hand back out and said "Mom, want some chocolate?"
All I could do was laugh. I'll pretend to eat the chocolate she pulls out of her pocket but not when it comes from down her pants.

HOW LONG?
Emily: Mom, how long til it's my birthday?
Me: 3 months.
Emily: How many days is that?
Me: About 100
Emily: 101?
Me: Sure.
Emily: Wow!! That's a lot of puppies.

VOCAB 101
Driving in the car on the way to the doctors.
Tyler: Are you girls ready to go to the docs"
Emily: The Docs?"
Tyler: Yep
Emily: Dad, Doc is a car! We are going to the doctors.
